May Monthly Recap
May was a month filled with love, gratitude, and connection at Happy Tots Montessori, your trusted Montessori school in the South Bay. From Mother’s Day celebrations to meaningful lessons about family life, our classrooms were full of heartwarming moments and joyful discovery.
Families from Torrance, Lomita, San Pedro, and Rolling Hills Estates joined us in spirit as we honored the amazing moms in our community and explored what makes each family unique and special.
A Special Mother’s Day Celebration
In honor of Mother’s Day, our children worked hard to create beautiful, heartfelt handmade gifts for their moms. They poured love and creativity into every detail—whether it was a handprint flower, a decorated card, or a small surprise wrapped with care.
We also created a special Mother’s Day video capturing sweet moments, messages, and smiles from the children. It was our way of saying thank you to all the mothers who nurture, guide, and support their little ones every day.
Learning About Family Through Montessori Activities
In addition to celebrating moms, we used May as an opportunity to talk about family life—a core part of a child’s identity. As part of our cultural and social studies curriculum, the children:
• 🌳 Created family trees, learning about family roles and relationships
• 🏠 Shared stories about their loved ones during circle time
• 🎨 Used art and drawing to express what “family” means to them
• 🌍 Explored the concept of family across different cultures and traditions
These activities helped children build a strong sense of self while also learning to appreciate the diversity of families in their classroom community.
Supporting Emotional Growth in Early Childhood
At Happy Tots Montessori, we know how important it is for young children to feel seen, valued, and connected. Activities like Mother’s Day crafts and family tree projects support early emotional development, strengthen communication skills, and foster a sense of belonging.

March Monthly Recap
Exploring the Solar System – March Recap at Happy Tots Montessori
At Happy Tots Montessori, March was an exciting month filled with curiosity, wonder, and out-of-this-world learning as we explored the solar system!
Throughout the month, our young learners were introduced to the planets, stars, the sun, and the moon through hands-on, Montessori-aligned activities that sparked imagination and deepened understanding. This special solar system unit gave the children the opportunity to discover the wonders of space while strengthening their early STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) skills.
What We Explored:
• The Planets: Using visual aids, 3D models, and planet songs, the children learned the names and order of the eight planets in our solar system.
• The Sun and Moon: We explored how the sun gives us light and warmth, and how the moon changes shape throughout the month.
• Space Art and Crafts: The kids loved creating their own galaxies using paint, glitter, and recycled materials. These activities allowed them to express their creativity while learning important space concepts.
• Montessori Materials: Through sorting cards, matching games, and tactile learning, the children explored the solar system at their own pace, encouraging independence and inquiry.
Why It Matters:
At Happy Tots Montessori, we believe in nurturing children’s natural curiosity. By introducing astronomy for preschoolers, we lay the foundation for critical thinking, problem-solving, and a lifelong love of learning. The solar system unit was not only educational but also a wonderful way to foster awe and appreciation for the world—and universe—around us.
Thank you to our amazing families for your continued support. We can’t wait to see what discoveries April brings!
With gratitude,
The Happy Tots Montessori Team
February Monthly Recap

From crafting colorful cards to exchanging sweet messages, it was beautiful to see them express their care and thoughtfulness for one another. These special moments helped reinforce important Montessori values like empathy, gratitude, and community.
In honor of Black History Month, we explored the lives and contributions of influential Black leaders, artists, scientists, and changemakers. Through age-appropriate stories, music, art, and discussions, the children were introduced to inspiring figures such as Rosa Parks, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and Mae Jemison. It was a meaningful opportunity to celebrate diversity and plant seeds of inclusion, respect, and awareness.
As always, our days were also filled with purposeful work, movement, and discovery. We are so proud of how much each child is growing — in independence, confidence, and curiosity.
Thank you to all our families for your continued support. We look forward to blossoming into a new season together!

Happy Tots Montessori kicked off the new year with Dental Health Month!
Happy Tots Montessori kicked off the new year with Dental Health Month! Our hands-on, Montessori-aligned activities taught children the importance of oral hygiene through fun, interactive lessons. From brushing techniques to healthy eating habits, we empower young learners to develop lifelong dental care skills. Discover how we integrate health education into our curriculum for a brighter, healthier future! #MontessoriEducation #DentalHealth #HappyTotsMontessori
At Happy Tots Montessori, we believe in fostering holistic development by integrating health education into our curriculum. This January, we dedicated the month to dental health, emphasizing the importance of oral hygiene among our students.
Interactive Learning Activities
Our approach to dental health education was both engaging and informative. Students participated in hands-on activities that highlighted the significance of proper oral care. One notable activity was the “Happy Tooth, Sad Tooth” sorting game, where children learned to distinguish between foods beneficial and detrimental to dental health. This interactive session not only educated them about healthy eating habits but also reinforced the consequences of their dietary choices on oral hygiene.
Montessori-Aligned Practices
In line with Montessori principles, we encouraged independence by teaching children the proper techniques for brushing their teeth. Using visual aids and model sets, students practiced brushing motions, enhancing their fine motor skills and understanding of personal hygiene. This method empowers them to take responsibility for their well-being from a young age.
Educational Resources and Parental Involvement
To reinforce the lessons learned, we provided resources for parents to continue dental health education at home. Activities such as the “Happy Tooth, Sad Tooth” printable allowed families to engage in discussions about oral hygiene beyond the classroom. By involving parents, we aim to create a consistent message about the importance of dental care.
The Importance of Early Dental Education
Instilling good dental habits early in life is crucial. Research indicates that school-based oral health programs can effectively teach children the principles of basic oral and dental hygiene, leading to long-term benefits. By integrating these lessons into our curriculum, we aim to set the foundation for lifelong healthy habits.
At Happy Tots Montessori, our commitment to comprehensive education ensures that our students receive the knowledge and skills necessary for their overall development. Our dental health month was a testament to this dedication, blending fun, learning, and essential life skills.
